Presentation of the CD

The wish to record this disc is related to a place: the Cathedral of Chartres. During three successive summers, as part of the Festival «Silence to Music», I played there violin solo recitals, mixing Baroque works with some of 20-century composers as Ysaÿe, Honegger, Prokofiev, Jolivet et Rosaz.

This recording was made some evenings of Spring 2009, in the ecumenical chapell, while the rest of the cathedrale was plunged into darkness.

On this disc are presented violin solo works of four composers of the Baroque period: the luminous Partita in E major from Johann Sebastian Bach, the 2nd Suite from Johann Paul von Westhoff, made up of four dance movements, some Fantasias from Georg Philipp Telemann, pieces of various character, sometimes joyful, sometimes meditative, and the Passacaglia in G minor from Heinrich Ignaz Biber, noted "Prayer to the guardian angel".
